Meet Tyler.

Tyler is a poet, creative producer, and performer. Art has always been a foundational part of her life—growing up, music and dance weren’t just hobbies, but meaningful ways she and her family connected with one another.

Mental health has also been a significant part of Tyler’s journey, as she has lived with anxiety and depression for much of her life. As a child, she didn’t have the language to fully understand what she was experiencing. Over time, she has committed herself to doing the work of healing and self-discovery. Today, she is a passionate advocate for mental health awareness, intentionally weaving her lived experiences into her poetry and art to foster connection, reduce stigma, and remind others that they are not alone.

“Mental health affects people in so many different ways, and it’s something our society is still learning how to talk about openly and compassionately. Through my own lived experience and creative work, I’ve seen how powerful art and community can be in helping people heal and feel less alone,” Tyler said.

Tyler was featured in an exhibition with Painted Brain’s Creative Residency Program, where she created a poetic pathway—her words laid out on the floor, leading to a live performance where she recited her work. She shared that the residency opened her eyes to new ways “her words could live beyond the page” and create deeper connection through art.

“Being surrounded by such a kind, supportive, and encouraging community reaffirmed how vital safe creative spaces are, and how much they can transform not only the work we make, but the people we become,” Tyler said.
